Turkey warns citizens of tsunami threat

A strong earthquake hit the Mediterranean coast of Cyprus, with the tremors felt in Mersin, Antalya, Adana, Konya and other Turkish cities, Report informs referring to Haber Global.

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the 6.4 magnitude earthquake occurred at 04:07 (GMT+3).

Sukru Ersoy, professor at Yildiz Technical University, warned of the danger of a tsunami. He said that earthquakes with a magnitude of 6 or more pose a threat of a tsunami. If this happens, it will cause serious damage to the region.

The tremors have caused alarm among the residents of Turkey, some of whom have left their homes.

The epicenter depth was 5.06 kilometers.
