Tokayev calls Trans-Caspian route priority for Kazakhstan

The Trans-Caspian route is a priority for Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said, Report informs via Kazakh media.

During a meeting on the development of transport and transit potential, the Kazakhstani president called the diversification of oil supplies a critical task.

“The priority direction is the Trans-Caspian route. I instruct KazMunayGas to work out the best option for its implementation, including the possibility of attracting investors of the Tengiz project. The government, together with Samruk-Kazyna, should take measures to increase the capacity of the Atyrau-Kenkiyak and Kenkiyak-Kumkol oil pipelines,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkiye and the Black Sea, further to European countries. TITR Association members are 20 companies, including railway administrations, ports, shipping and logistics companies from 8 countries.
