Tense situation in Zangazur, residents demand Pashinyan leave city

The situation in Armenia's Meghri province has become tense after the arrival of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Report informs, citing Novosti Armenia.

City residents protested against the prime minister's visit to the region and demanded him to leave Syunik (Zangazur).

"Nikol is a traitor!" they voiced slogans.

Pashinyan's bodyguard's clothes were torn during the incident.

Protesters reportedly attacked Pashinyan's entourage and the prime minister's car. Nikol Pashinyan's National Security Service and 500 masked police officers did not resist the attack, got into a car, and left the city with Pashinyan.

Thus, the planned visit of the Prime Minister to the region did not take place.
