Tbilisi named World Book Capital

The Georgian capital, Tbilisi, has today been declared the World Book Capital.

Report's Georgian bureau informs that the city will host UNESCO's projects within a year. Tbilisi will get this status from Kuala Lumpur.

Various events to promote reading and raise the availability of books for all social strata are held in the cities, announced the World Book Capitals.

The project was launched in 2001, with Madrid declared the first book capital of the world.
