Ukraine will be the determining party in monitoring the ceasefire, but international forces may also be present, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"Here's the question of who can carry out such monitoring, because there is certainly a national component, this cannot happen without us, because it is happening on our territory. Therefore, Ukraine is the determining party regarding the control and monitoring of the ceasefire. We have already begun forming a national team that will produce modalities, algorithms to ensure this process," he added.
The minister of foreign affairs noted the technical capabilities that Ukraine has built up in recent years - the possibilities of using unmanned technologies for this monitoring.
"But certainly there should be an international component, for the objectivity of recording possible violations, provocations from the Russian side," he added.
According to him, usually such mechanisms for monitoring compliance with the ceasefire operate under the "umbrellas" of the UN, OSCE, or various other international institutions. This issue is a subject for discussion with European colleagues and with the American side.
