Storm in Moscow leaves 1 dead, several more injured

A tree fell due to strong winds and fatally crushed a pedestrian on Ivanovskaya Street in northern Moscow, Report informs via TASS, which cites the Emergencies Ministry.

There are also injured people in different areas of the capital as a result of the hurricane winds, and their number and condition are currently being clarified. "The number of fallen trees and damaged cars is also being counted," said a representative of the emergency services. He added that calls continue to come into the emergency services, whose specialists immediately go to eliminate the consequences of what happened. In addition, heavy rain led to the flooding of a number of streets, and some residents are complaining about communication disruptions.

Earlier, the Moscow authorities appealed to residents to refrain from being outside during the bad weather. The Emergencies Ministry warned that on Thursday until 22:00 in Moscow, a downpour and squally wind gusts of up to 18-23 m/s were expected. From 12:00 to 17:00 there is a probability of tornadoes forming.
