About 150 people were evacuated due to floods in West Kazakhstan, local emergency situations were declared in Uralsk and three districts - Chingirlau, Burlinsk and Baiterek, Report informs referring to Sputnik-Kazakhstan.
About 50 houses were flooded, no one was injured, according to the regional emergency department.
The Department of Emergency Situations explained that as a result of a sharp increase in temperature to +12 degrees and intensive snow melting, a large amount of melt water descended from the hills.
Rescuers and local executive bodies evacuated 149 people, drove about 300 heads of farm animals to safe places.
More than 800 people, 200 pieces of equipment and 100 pumping equipment are involved in the rescue and urgent work per day.
Over the past 24 hours alone, about 4,000 bags with inert materials have been laid in hazardous areas, and more than 25,000 cubic meters of water have been pumped out.
