The US sees a unique opportunity for itself to contribute to the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried said at a hearing in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of Congress, Report informs.
In the context of the South Caucasus, the US believes that there is a unique opportunity to promote the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, she said.
The assistant secretary also pointed to Russia’s role in the peace settlement, saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in October.
