Son of ex-president of Armenia Kocharyan arrested for 1 month

A court in Yerevan arrested the son of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, Levon Kocharyan, for one month, his lawyer Alexander Kochubaev wrote on social networks, Report informs referring to Armenian media.

The court hearing, during which the issue of a preventive measure against Kocharyan was considered, lasted about 9 hours.

On September 22, Kocharyan’s son was taken into custody during anti-government protests. Then he was beaten by police officers, after which he was hospitalized. It later became known that he was detained on suspicion of beating four police officers.

At the same time, a criminal case was opened regarding the torture of Kocharyan. On the morning of September 24, the defense announced that it had withdrawn the complaint about the detention of Levon Kocharyan, calling the judge biased.

Kocharyan stated that he was ready for a confrontation with the police officers who provided information about him that did not correspond to reality.
