Slovenia transfers almost 30 tanks to Ukraine

Slovenia has fulfilled its part of the agreement with Germany. A batch of 28 M-55S tanks arrived in Ukraine, which will be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine if necessary, Report informs referring to RBC-Ukraine.

Prior to this, Slovenia sent 35 BVP M80A amphibious armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. The Slovenian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the tanks were successfully handed over to Ukraine.

“These are 28 M-55S tanks, which we promised in exchange for 35 8x8 heavy forklifts and five 8x8 heavy water tanks to form a medium battalion group,” the report says.

Germany should provide Slovenia with 40 transport vehicles, which will also serve for protection and rescue. The replacement agreement was signed by Prime Minister Robert Golob and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in September.

M-55S tanks are combat tracked vehicles with dynamic protection and powerful weapons designed to destroy manpower, armored vehicles and other enemy combat vehicles.
