Simonyan: Azerbaijan conducted Karabakh operation following UN resolutions

Azerbaijan conducted the operation in Karabakh in compliance with UN resolutions, the Chairman of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan sai in an interview with Radio Azatutyun, Report informs.

According to Simonyan, the Armenian side did not receive the desired reaction from the world community during the Second Karabakh War.

"When the Second Karabakh War began, we were very upset because the world did not react to this war as we wanted. And the reason was also the lack of legitimacy, the lack of legitimacy on our part. Azerbaijan conducted an operation in Karabakh, for which it had at least 3-4 UN resolutions," the Armenian speaker admitted.

Simonyan also noted that countries hostile to Armenia and Azerbaijan want the peace negotiations to reach a deadlock.

"We must not allow the peace process [between Yerevan and Baku] to reach a deadlock. This is exactly what countries that are hostile to Armenia, and maybe to Azerbaijan, want," Simonyan emphasized.

He also touched upon the proposal to conclude peace treaty negotiations within the 3+3 platform.

"I think we will consider such an option, although, to be honest, I don't understand why we need any other format besides the one that existed or exists," the Armenian speaker added.
