The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington, scheduled for Monday evening, is seen as a key moment in bringing closer the peace Ukraine aims to achieve this year, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiha said during the presentation of a government action program project, Report informs via Ukrainian media.
“This is a defining moment (…) when, thanks to the full mobilization of diplomatic efforts, we can bring a just peace closer. We are making every effort to end this war within this year,” he said.
Sibiha added that Ukraine expects further progress, a clearer understanding of the parameters of future security guarantees, and steps toward a potential trilateral meeting involving Zelenskyy, Putin, and Trump, possibly with the participation of other allied leaders.
