Sergey Lavrov: Russia intends to work actively in format of Caspian Five

Russia intends to actively work in the format of the Caspian Five (Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan) of the countries of the region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the first meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Caspian Sea issues, Report informs.

"Russia is committed to active constructive work in the format of the Caspian Five for the sake of strengthening the position of this region as a zone of peace, harmony, good neighborhood, and efficient international cooperation," he noted.

According to him, all directions of the five-way cooperation in the Caspian Sea are very important and interconnected.

According to the Russian FM, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation in the field of security as well as to improve humanitarian relations: "Interregional and interparliamentary relations remain an important factor for this cooperation."
