School named after Azerbaijan's national leader inaugurated in Türkiye's Kahramanmaras

A modern school named after Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev has been inaugurated in the "Azerbaijan" neighborhood of Kahramanmaras, one of the Turkish regions most severely affected by the devastating earthquakes of February 2023. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, Emin Amrullayev, the Minister of National Education of Türkiye, Yusuf Tekin, and representatives of the public from both countries.

The three-story school building, whose foundation was laid in April last year, was constructed with the needs of children with disabilities in mind. The school features a gymnasium, library, prayer room, and a shelter to ensure the safety of students in various situations. It also boasts a workshop with special tools and educational materials, a classroom with musical instruments, two classrooms for drawing and crafts, and a cabinet for technology, mathematics, and engineering lessons.

The surrounding area of the school has been landscaped, and a children's playground has been created. At the entrance to the primary school, an obelisk has been installed with images of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev and the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Erhan Baydur, the Director of the Kahramanmaras Education Department, highly appreciated the construction of the modern primary school in Kahramanmaras: "I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the structures of Azerbaijan and personally to President Ilham Aliyev for their contribution to the education of the children of Kahramanmaras." He recalled that the site of the Heydar Aliyev Primary School was previously occupied by an educational institution that was destroyed as a result of the earthquake.
