Putin says sanctions against Russia akin to declaration of war

The sanctions that are being introduced are akin to a declaration of war, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with women flight crews of Russian airlines, Report's Russian bureau informs.

Putin noted that there are many different options for the demilitarization of Ukraine: "There are many different options for the demilitarization of Ukraine, they are on the negotiating table with Kyiv, we hope for a positive reaction."

Putin said that there is no need to introduce a state of emergency in Russia: "Martial law is introduced in the country under the law in the event of external aggression, including in specific areas of hostilities. We do not have such a situation and, I hope, we won't. We do not plan to introduce any special state on the territory of the Russian Federation; there is no such need today."
