Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a scientific analysis to be conducted to prevent the shallowing of the Caspian Sea, Report informs referring to TASS.
He touched on this topic at a meeting with the governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin.
At the same time, the head of state noted that he discussed this topic with President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
"I recently visited Azerbaijan. Our colleague, the President of Azerbaijan, drew attention to the fact that the Caspian Sea is getting shallower," Putin said, noting that Ilham Aliyev spoke very warmly about interaction with the Astrakhan region.
"I have a request for you - I will, of course, instruct the government to do this - but you prepare and send me a corresponding appeal with a request to conduct such a scientific analysis of the events taking place in the Volga region and the Caspian Sea in order to understand what needs to be done in the near future, to undertake in order to help the Caspian Sea," Putin instructed.
