Russian political scientist: Steps taken by Armenia will have negative impact on Armenia itself

“Considering Armenia's membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Customs Union, and other organizations, I cannot understand the steps taken by it. Armenia is deprived of profitable economic relations, and this will have a negative impact on Armenia itself and its image,” the director of the Center for Monitoring Eurasian Problems, Aslan Rubaev, told Report.

He noted that the fact that Armenia is moving away from Russia and leaning towards the West is a story with negative content: “It is sad that the relations between friends and allies are strained.”

As for whether it will be possible for Armenia to completely sever relations with Russia, the political scientist said: “Taking into account Armenia's significant economic and geographical dependence on Russia, I must emphasize that it is impossible to completely sever these relations, but Pashinyan is currently doing a lot of things to destabilize bilateral relations. Let's take into account that the Armenian people treat Russia with great respect and sympathy and condemn the policy of the Armenian government against Russia. The close cultural relations will not allow the tension between the two countries to increase.”
