Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is trying to create an image of a “humanitarian crisis” by claiming that the Lachin road is “blocked”, ignoring the fact that there is a road through Aghdam, political scientist, Deputy Director of the Institute for Political Studiesç Daria Grevtsovaç told Report.
"All goods can be safely delivered to Karabakh through Aghdam, and Azerbaijan has never refused this. But this is not in Pashinyan's interests. Therefore, he is trying to use this situation to make a fuss in the press. But probably this will not give any concrete results. After all, everyone understands that this is Azerbaijan's territory, and it is Azerbaijan that should exercise control over it,” she stressed.
The political scientist noted that Armenia's appeal to the UN Security Council regarding the situation around the Lachin road is only aimed at drawing the attention of foreign countries: “Armenia really wants to draw the attention of foreign countries. Although realizing that it would not bring real results, Armenia put forward the idea of applying to the UN. However, this will become a good PR campaign for Pashinyan himself in the country. This is also proof that how much he cares about his political image. He is trying to demonstrate to his European counterparts that he hopes for their help, not Moscow's.”
