Russian political scientist comments on Finland, Sweden’s joining NATO

The decision on full membership of Finland and Sweden in NATO must go through the procedure of ratification, Russian military expert, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko said, the Russian bureau of Report informs.

“No quick actions will be taken from the Russian side. In any case, an analysis will be carried out from the point of view of the threat to Russia’s security and measures will be developed to neutralize these threats,” the political scientist said.

Korotchenko noted that Russia is waiting for the adoption of a new NATO concept: “We are waiting for the adoption of a new strategic concept of the alliance, where Russia will be designated as an adversary. Next, measures will be taken to strengthen NATO forces in the Baltic countries and Poland,” the political scientist concluded.
