Russian army approaches strategic Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk

Fighting for the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine has intensified.

Report has captured dramatic scenes in Pokrovsk.

Currently, three of the four entrances to the city are already closed.

The Russian army has approached Pokrovsk which is just 4 kilometers far from the border betwen Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk oblasts. Pokrovsk is now the most strategic city in Donetsk. The city's exit to Dnepropetrovsk remains under crossfire. The Russian troops have already captured Vuhledar and Kurakhove, towns in the vicinity of Pokrovsk.

If Pokrovsk falls under Russian control, the remaining part of the Donetsk Oblast under Ukrainian administration will be automatically surrounded. Currently, the situation is dire in Pokrovsk, and locals call it "the second Bakhmut."

"Although we tried to get a statement from the city administration about the situation, no one responded. There are rumours that the mayor has already left Pokrovsk. An official from the Mayor Office named Alexei first tried to prevent us from filming. Although he said that the mayor was on vacation, he corrected it to 'on a business trip' after people around him said, 'What kind of vacation is it when the city is in this state? However, he did not say exactly where the mayor was on a business trip.'" Report’s correspondent stated.
