Russia's nuclear forces holding manoeuvre drills

Russia's nuclear forces are holding drills in the Ivanovo province, northeast of Moscow, the Interfax news agency cited the Russian defence ministry as saying on Wednesday.

Report informs, citing Reuters, that, according to the ministry, some 1,000 servicemen are exercising in intense manoeuvres using over 100 vehicles including Yars intercontinental ballistic missile launchers. Yars is capable of hitting targets at ranges up to 11,000 km, it is equipped with a multiple reentry vehicle with maneuvering individual guidance units.

Meanwhile, Russia's Defense Ministry said strategic missilemen are working out the issues of bringing missile systems to field positions, carrying out marches up to 100 km long, deploying units with a change in field positions, their engineering equipment, organizing camouflage and combat protection.

The Strategic Missile Forces is a branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the main component of its strategic nuclear forces.
