Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu has not rued out that Russia may resume nuclear tests if the United States does the same, Report informs.
"Our position on this matter depends on the United States’ actions in this area," he said in an interview with TASS when asked whether Russia could resume nuclear tests. "Now, warranty periods for some types of their nuclear munitions are expiring and the development of new types of weapons is underway. This may push Washington toward resuming nuclear tests."
"In such an event, Russia may follow their lead as a response step," he stated, adding that Russia’s defense ministry and the state corporation Rosatom "are ready for such works."
"In recent years, Russia has developed an introduced into service a range of state-of-the-art weapons, including strategic ones that have no analogues in the world," he noted.
