Russia extends ban entry for foreigners

The Russian government has extended the decree barring foreigners from entering the country, which was introduced in mid-March and set to expire on April 30, Report says, citing RT.

“I have signed a government resolution on extending it until the fight against the infection is over, and the epidemic situation has improved,” Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

Notably, Russia has confirmed 108 coronavirus-related deaths per day, bringing the total death toll to 972.

Earlier, Russia had reportedly bypassed Iran and China in the number of infections.

On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities announced an outbreak of pneumonia in China’s Wuhan, the causative agent of which is a new type of coronavirus officially named COVID-19.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus a pandemic.
