Russia disposes of world's largest nuclear submarine

The Russian strategic nuclear submarine (NPS) "Dmitry Donskoy" was withdrawn from the combat vehicles of the Navy. The submarine will now be scrapped, Report informs via Russian media.

The utilization of nuclear submarines involves unloading the coolant and spent nuclear fuel from the reactor, cutting out the reactor compartment and its long-term storage.

The name "Dmitry Donskoy" will be given to another nuclear submarine.

During the Soviet era, five similar submarines were produced. The cruiser "Dmitry Donskoy" was the last of them remaining in service with the Russian fleet. The vessel is 172.5 meters long, 23.16 meters wide and 11.58 meters high.
