Quake in Istanbul leaves over 150 injured

As a result of the earthquake in Istanbul, 151 people were injured, Report informs via local authorities.

The injured are receiving the necessary medical care.

"Treatment of 151 citizens injured as a result of panicked jumps from heights continues. Their lives are not in danger. There are no casualties. There are no damages to residential buildings in the city as a whole. An abandoned building collapsed in the Fatih district," the authorities said in a statement.

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus said that the country's institutions and citizens must be prepared for a new earthquake.

"The expected earthquake in Istanbul may occur at any moment. Our country, all our institutions and organizations must be prepared, and we must overcome a possible earthquake in Istanbul with the least number of victims," ​​he noted.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said 46 aftershocks occurred in three hours after the magnitude 3.9 quake at 12:13 p.m. local time.
The smallest shaking occurred near the Silivri and Buyukcekmece districts of Istanbul with a magnitude of 1.6, while the strongest shook near Silivri with a magnitude of 6.2.
