Putin imposes martial law in four Russia-annexed regions of Ukraine

Vladimir Putin on Wednesday imposed martial law in the four territories that Russia annexed from Ukraine last month.

Russia's president made the order for Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia during a meeting of the Russian Security Council on Wednesday.

Under the law, the Russian leader must immediately inform the Federation Council and the State Duma about the introduction of martial law.
