Putin, Erdogan discuss escalation in Middle East

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call to discuss the ongoing escalation in the Middle East.

According to Report, citing the Kremlin press service, the call was initiated by the Turkish side.

"The leaders conducted an in-depth exchange of views on the ongoing military-political confrontation in the Persian Gulf region. It was noted that intense hostilities are causing serious negative consequences not only regionally but globally, including in energy, trade, and logistics," the Kremlin said.

The statement added that both leaders agreed on the need for an immediate ceasefire and the "development of compromise peace agreements that take into account the legitimate interests of all countries in the region."

The Kremlin also noted that Putin expressed gratitude to Erdogan for his consistent readiness to support the negotiation process in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
