Purpose of Serdar Kilic's visit to border with Armenia revealed

Turkiye's special representative in negotiations with Armenia, Serdar Kilic, visited the Akyaka district of Kars - on the Turkish-Armenian border.

Report informs, citing Sputnik Armenia, that the diplomat visited the Dogukapi crossing point in Akyaka district, located on the border with Armenia.

He then saw the ruins of the ancient city of Ani. Kilic also visited the Military Museum and Cheese Museum in Kars.

The special representative of Turkiye held a series of meetings closed to the press.

Previously, the information was spread about preparations for the opening of Dogukapi and Alikan checkpoints in the Akyaka district of the city of Kars in the east of Turkiye.

According to media reports, the Israeli company is engaged in clearing the Turkish-Armenian border of mines. The demining works in the Akyaka district have been going on for almost a month.

Ruben Rubinyan, the special representative of the Armenian side for the normalization of relations, noted that the possibilities of opening border crossings for citizens of third countries are being discussed, but a concrete agreement has not yet been reached on where exactly they will be opened.
