President: Poland sent weapons worth $2B to Ukraine

Poland has sent more than 240 tanks and almost 100 armored vehicles to Ukraine as part of defense assistance, President of Poland Andrzej Duda said in an interview with the German publication Bild, Report informs referring to UNIAN.

“Ukraine needs heavy weapons, tanks. I spoke with President Zelenskyy two days ago. We sent tanks, more than 240 tanks that Ukraine can serve, as well as almost 100 pieces of armored vehicles and weapons. We sent a total of $2 billion worth of weapons,” Duda said.

He noted that Poland expected to receive a certain number of Leopard tanks from Germany to replenish its stocks, but this has not yet happened.

“It goes without saying for us that instead of the old Soviet tanks that we delivered to Ukraine, we get several Leopard tanks from Germany, not the most modern ones. Because there are older versions of Leopard tanks in Poland. Thanks to this help, we wanted to replenish these stocks. We could get older ones and modernize them in the future - also with the help of German industry. As far as I know, we have not received anything,” Duda said.
