President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared June 12 a National Day of Mourning, Report informs via Kazakh media.
The head of state made a trip to the Abay region, where he expressed condolences to the families and friends of forestry workers who died due to a large-scale fire in the Semey Ormany nature reserve.
The fire is believed to have covered a forested area of 60,000 hectares. A helicopter was summoned to put out the fire. In addition, rescuers from three regions were sent to help extinguish the forest fire.
As a result of the fire, 14 people died, Kazinform news agency said.
