Pataradze : Georgia received dividends from implementation of Southern Gas Corridor

The Southern Gas Corridor and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway projects are clearly geostrategic, and their full implementation is of great political and economic importance, Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze said in an interview with the analytical information magazine Milli Majlis.

According to Report, the ambassador said that with the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor, Georgia, as a transit country, and Azerbaijan, as a hydrocarbon-producing country, contribute to Europe's energy security: "The large-scale projects launched at the end of the last century and their uninterrupted operation have had a positive impact on the image of our nations, and today Georgia and Azerbaijan are reliable partners for the West."

Pataradze believes that thanks to the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor, Georgia was able to receive both political and economic dividends: "Its successful operation makes a positive contribution to reducing energy dependence on Russian gas and ensures our country's energy security. As for the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, its full process will further strengthen the status of the region's transport and trade center, connect the West and East, including China, Kazakhstan, and India, and facilitate the efficient and economic mobility of goods and passengers. This route will increase freight turnover not only in the Caucasus but also in the broader region, develop related infrastructure, promote the rapid improvement of new markets, tourism, and processing sectors, and create additional jobs that contribute to sustainable economic growth and stability."
