Pashinyan names reason for Armenian Defense Minister's dismissal

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan decided to dismiss Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan and appoint Deputy Prime Minister Suren Papikyan because of the situation on the border with Azerbaijan, the press service of the Armenian Cabinet of Ministers said, Report informs.

"I want to emphasize that I decided to dismiss Arshak Karapetyan from the post of defense minister and appoint Suren Papikyan, who is currently deputy prime minister, to this post. This decision was made as a result of an analysis of the events unfolding since yesterday," he said today at the meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Pashinyan.

"At the moment, the situation has led me to a decision that the minister should be replaced," the prime minister added.
