Pashinyan: Many corruption investigations in Armenia lead nowhere

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that numerous corruption cases being considered in Armenian courts “lead to nothing,” Report informs via Armenian media.

Pashinyan made the remarks at a government meeting today.

“Detentions or arrests in major corruption cases are announced dozens of times, but then years pass, the suspects remain at large, and most importantly, the cases do not end in anything. Misunderstanding and discontent are growing in society,” Pashinyan said.

According to him, “It is the government that bears political responsibility for all delays in cases, including high-profile ones.”

“If we announce that someone was caught for embezzlement or bribes, and then this person is seen in Yerevan cafes or abroad, then society has questions. How can I then prove that I didn’t give the go-ahead for this? We are starting to play on people’s trust and nerves, this must stop,” Pashinyan said.
