Pashinyan: Civil Contract party will form a government

"According to the preliminary results of the elections as published by the Central Electoral Commission, in the newly-elected parliament the Civil Contract party will have a constitutional majority (at least 71 MPs out of 105) and will form a government led by me," Armenia's acting PM Nikol Pashinyan wrote on Twitter Monday morning.

Notably, Armenia held snap parliamentary elections in the wake of the long-lasting internal socio-political crisis after the defeat in the Second Karabakh War. The voting process was accompanied by several serious violations, including an armed incident. Armenian oppositionists called the vote the most shameful polls in the country's history. The Armenian Prosecutor General's Office announced that it received 319 reports of election violations. Several criminal cases have been launched in connection with election violations.

Twenty-one parties and four blocs took part in the second early parliamentary elections in the history of Armenia.

The vote-counting process is already over. The Civil Contract party had 53.92% of the vote, compared with 21.04 votes for former President Robert Kocharyan's Armenia Alliance.
