Pashinyan: Armenia, Russia discussing creation of stronghold of 102nd base

Armenia and Russia are discussing the possibility of expanding the capabilities of the 102nd Russian military base, in particular, the creation of a stronghold of the base in Syunik province, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a parliamentary meeting, Report informs referring to Armenian media.

The prime minister called the military alliance with Russia a key component of ensuring Armenia’s security and announced the possibility of expanding the capabilities of the Russian military base stationed in the republic.

“We are discussing the issue of expanding the capabilities of the Russian military base. Quite effective discussions are underway with Russian partners, and the Minister of Defense spoke about the creation of a stronghold of the 102nd Russian base in the Syunik region,” Pashinyan said.
