PACE fact-finding mission visits Georgia

The fact-finding mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is visiting Georgia, Vladimir Bozhadze, the First Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Georgian Parliament told journalists, Report informs.

Bozhadze emphasized the significance of this visit, stating, "In coordination with the Prime Minister, it was decided that the relevant delegation should come to the country and closely acquaint themselves with the situation on the spot. The rapporteurs will have the opportunity to verify the existing information and situation on the ground once again."

The PACE monitoring mission will also meet with representatives of political parties today.

The purpose of the visit is to assess Georgia's adherence to its obligations as a member of the Council of Europe, especially in light of the political crisis following the October elections and the suspension of EU membership negotiations.
