Over 70% of Kazakhstanis vote "yes" to building a nuclear power plant

An overwhelming majority of Kazakhstanis have voted in favor of constructing a nuclear power plant in the country.

According to Nurlan Abdirov, the chairman of Kazakhstan's Central Election Commission, 71.12% of the citizens, that is 5,561,937 people, have given their approval to the project.

The referendum, which took place on October 6, saw a significant turnout, with 7,820,204 people, or 63.66% of eligible voters, participating in the decision-making process.

The results demonstrate a clear mandate from the people of Kazakhstan to embrace nuclear energy as a means to meet the country's growing energy demands.
