Over 108,000 people evacuated in Kazakhstan due to floods

As many as 108,200 people have been evacuated from the flood zone in Kazakhstan, including 38,706 children, the country’s Emergency Situations Ministry said, Report informs via Kazakh media.

According to the ministry, 5,411 private residential buildings and 1,607 courtyard areas remain flooded.

Almost 12,000 people have returned to their homes, the ministry said. Over 30,000 people, more than 4,000 units of special equipment and 11 aircraft are involved in emergency rescue operations.

Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that floods had become the largest disaster in the republic in the last 80 years, declaring a state of emergency in 10 regions.
