Opposition movement leader detained in Armenia

Armenian police detained the Veto opposition movement leader Narek Malyan on one of the central streets of Yerevan, Report informs, quoting TASS.

On Friday evening, the National Security Service (SNB) detained the former head of the parliamentary staff Ara Saghatelyan, ex-deputy Karen Bekaryan, and two other citizens. They face charges of creating a fake Facebook account with harsh criticism of the current authorities. According to the National Security Service, the detained opposition figure violated censorship norms during martial law through the account.

Opponents of the authorities say that all the arrests are connected with the planned rally of the united opposition, which demands the resignation of the country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
