Opera singer goes on hunger strike to support Saakashvili

Georgia's opera singer Paata Burchuladze has gone on a hunger strike demanding to transfer the former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili from the prison hospital to a civil clinic, Report informs, citing TASS.

"I want to express my moderate protest and launch a hunger strike starting today. I do not want to be an accomplice in my president's death. If we lose Saakashvili, we will lose Georgia, the strong and bright past that we had," Burchuladze said.

Ten members of the Georgian parliament and one of the leaders of the United National Movement opposition party Georgy Baramidze earlier went on a hunger strike demanding to take Saakashvili to a civil clinic. Moreover, six members of the National Movement Party are also starving in support of the former president.
