One third of companies in Russia laid off employees in 2022

In 2022, 33% of Russian companies reported layoffs. Among large firms, this figure reached 44%, according to the results of the HeadHunter study, Report informs referring to RBC.

Experts polled 256 companies with different number of employees. Organizations with more than 1,000 employees were taken as the largest ones, and firms with less than 50 employees were taken for the smallest ones.

The study showed that it was large companies that suffered the most. Their representatives attribute their losses to the armed conflict in Ukraine, sanctions and mobilization.

Some 46% of respondents believe that the events of 2022 have affected their businesses much more than the pandemic and coronavirus restrictions. Another 23% said the effect was about the same. For 12%, the events of two years ago turned out to be more significant.

One in five companies (19%) reported that 2022 was a better year for them than the previous two. Basically, this position is held by enterprises with less than 100 employees.
