Four-month-old infant becomes victim of COVID in Kazakh capital

Medics in the Kazakh capital discovered the presence of coronavirus in a four-month-old infant.

As Report informs citing TASS, such information was revealed at a briefing by Saule Kisikova, head of the public health department of Nur-Sultan, where 28 cases of infection have been recorded so far.

"The registered cases are distributed by age: two up to 18 years old - one four-month-old infant and a teenager of 14 years. There are three people in the 18 to 29 age group. 64% of registered cases - or 18 people - are in the 30-49 age group. There are four people between 50 and 59 years of age and one person who is older than 60," she said.

Speaking about the sex and age structure of those who are infected, she specified that out of 28 victims, 8 are men.

On March 15, Kazakhstan President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev signed a decree imposing a state of emergency until April 15 due to COVID. Besides, on March 19, authorities have decided to introduce a quarantine regime in Nur-Sultan and Alma-Ata.
