Nurlan Abdirov appointed head of Kazakhstan CEC

Nurlan Abdirov has been appointed Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, Report informs via Zakon.kz.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the relevant decree.

Abdirov served as deputy secretary of the country's Security Council from 2005 until 2009.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kazakhstan Berik Imashev has been relieved of his post.

Imashev had held the position since 2016 and was re-elected in September 2021.
