Number of people detained during protest action in Yerevan climbs to 74

The number of citizens detained during the protest in Yerevan has risen to 74, Report informs via Sputnik Armenia.

All those detained were brought to police under article 182 (nonfulfillment of the legal demand of a power representative) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The protest started in the morning when the activists blocked a number of streets in the capital city. Protests demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have been going on since September 19.

Police detained a total of 32 people during protests in Yerevan, Report informs via Sputnik Armenia.

According to previous reports, on Tuesday morning activists blocked Koryun Street, the intersection with Abovyan Street, as well as the intersection near the circus building. Vazgen Sargsyan Street and the intersection of Gulbenkyan and Komitas streets are also blocked.

All citizens were taken to the police on the grounds of Article 182 (failure to comply with a legal requirement of a representative of the authorities) of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

Protests demanding the resignation of the government have been going on in Yerevan since September 19.

The police began detaining opposition activists who tried to block one of the central avenues of Yerevan, Arshakunyats, early in the morning, demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Report informs via TASS that law enforcement officers first gave the protesters time to unblock the avenue, after which they began to detain them. About 10 people were taken to the police.

As local portals show in real time, opposition activists are also trying to block other streets in Yerevan, but the police immediately begin making arrests. The protesters demand the resignation of the government.
