Approximately 1,000 people have been evacuated in Kyrgyzstan due to devastating mudslides triggered by heavy rainfall, according to Report, which cites the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
The crisis unfolded in the Kadamjay district of the Batken region, where torrential rains led to the formation of dangerous mudflows. The MES stated, "Around 1,000 local residents have been evacuated from the Kadamjay district of the Batken region following the descent of mudslides."
In response to this natural disaster, the government has mobilized significant resources. Specialists from the MES's separate search and rescue detachment have been dispatched to the affected area. Additionally, heavy machinery and medical workers have been sent to provide assistance to local residents.
Assan Sulaymanov, the head of the Population and Territory Protection Department of the Ministry, has been sent to the Batken region to coordinate the actions of the relevant services. This decision was made on the orders of Boobek Azhikeev, the Minister of Emergency Situations.
