National Security Service checking Armenian citizen’s involvement in Crimean bridge explosion

Armenia’s National Security Service has launched criminal proceedings to clarify the possible involvement of an Armenian citizen in the explosion on the Crimean bridge, Report informs citing Sputnik-Armenia.

In particular, the investigation will check the data on the concealment of explosives in a truck driven by an Armenian citizen. The truck with the cargo entered the territory of Armenia from a third country, then left the republic and went through Georgia to Russia.

“In order to verify the data received and all the circumstances of the case, criminal proceedings have been initiated in the Investigation Department of the National Security Service under articles relating to assistance to international terrorism, smuggling of explosives by a group of persons by prior agreement, and forgery of documents,” the report says.

As part of the proceedings, interrogations and other investigative actions were carried out. Operational-search activities are being carried out, information about which will be provided as needed.

Earlier, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation announced that the explosive device was hidden in rolls with construction polyethylene film. The cargo was sent from the port of Odesa to the Bulgarian port of Ruse, then to the port of Poti (Georgia), from there to Armenia and further to Russia.

According to the security service, from September 29 to October 3, the cargo was cleared in Yerevan in accordance with the rules of the EAEU and registered in the name of the GRG GROUP company (Alaverdi city). The recipient of the cargo is Leader Ltd. (Moscow). Further, the car left for Georgia, from there it went to Russia, and on October 6 it was unloaded at a wholesale base in the city of Armavir (Russia).
