Mustafa Dzhemilev: Biggest support from Türkiye to Crimean Tatars came from Erdogan

The biggest support from Türkiye to the Crimean Tatars came from Recep Tayyip Erdogan, member of the Ukrainian Parliament, leader of the Crimean Tatar National Movement Mustafa Dzhemilev (Son of Crimea) told Report.

According to him, the Crimean Tatars wish success to Recep Tayyip Erdogan in May 14 presidential elections:

"At the time of our first visit to Türkiye, the country was led by Turgut Ozal. After that date, I had meetings with all Turkish leaders. They supported the Crimean Tatars as much as they could. We felt the biggest support when Recep Tayyip Erdogan came to power. His support as the Prime Minister of Türkiye helped the Crimean Tatar people very much. Even after he became the president, our meetings with Erdogan became more frequent and take place even now."

Mustafa Dzhemilev said that his relations with the opposition politicians in Türkiye are not bad and also expressed his concern about the idea of a parliamentary republic:

"They want to establish a parliamentary republic after the elections. I cannot say whether this will be good or bad for Türkiye. But I am sure that it will be difficult to make an important decision quickly and dynamically. The decision will be made by the people of Türkiye."
