Moscow believes that Brussels uses EU visa liberalization to pressure Armenian

The European Union's intention to simplify the visa regime for Armenian citizens is Brussels' lever of pressure on Armenia, the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Wednesday, Report informs.

According to Zakharova, in this way, "Brussels will receive leverage over Yerevan's policy after the start of negotiations on a visa-free regime with the EU."

"<...> Such generosity from Westerners in the current geopolitical realities should always be perceived with caution. There is no doubt that the issue of visa liberalization is purely opportunistic. It is dictated by the confrontational line of the European Union to spread its influence in the South Caucasus and attempts to ignite geopolitical rivalry in the region. In fact, the Westerners themselves formulate this as opening a second front against Russia," she said.
