Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf reelected speaker of Iranian parliament

MP from Tehran Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has been re-elected speaker of the Iranian parliament, Report informs, citing Mehr news agency.

According to the information, 230 deputies cast their votes for Qalibaf at the parliamentary session held on May 26, making him the parliament speaker again. Parliamentary elections in Iran are held every four years. However, the parliament consisting of 290 members, elects the chairman every year.

Galibaf was born in 1962 in Mashhad, Iran. He received higher education in geography. In 2001, he became the commander of the Revolutionary Guards. In 2006, after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he was elected mayor of Tehran. He ran for president in 2005.
