President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting at the Kuksaroy residence with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, who is on an official visit to the country, on Monday, Report informs via Kun.uz.
During the talks, issues of ensuring global and regional peace, stability, and sustainable development were discussed, along with expanding multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN and the implementation of joint projects aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
International and regional issues of significance were also discussed. The head of state expressed strong support for the Secretary-General's initiatives to ensure international security and stability, reform the UN and its main bodies, and hold the Future Summit in New York this year.
Issues of cooperation in developing regional transport connectivity and ensuring food, energy, and information security were reviewed.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to jointly develop a framework program for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN on Sustainable Development Goals for 2026-2030.
